Paraîtrait que les voleurs ont trouvé une autre façon simple et facile de voler votre automobile sans aucun effort et sans avoir l'air suspect.
Le voleur peut facilement voir le numéro de série de votre véhicule à travers le pare-brise. Le prenant en note, il appelle le concessionnaire pour demander une nouvelle clé qu'il a soi-disant perdue.
Le concessionnaire lui demande alors le numéro de série de son véhicule. Avec ce dernier, il fournit au demandeur, votre voleur, une nouvelle clé pour son véhicule sans aucune autre question. Évidement le voleur paiera son achat en argent, pour ne pas être identifié.
Pour éviter que cela vous arrive, mettez un "duct tape" ou une carte d'affaire par dessus votre numéro qui s'affiche dans le pare-brise. La loi interdit d'enlever le numéro de série mais aucune loi n’interdit de le cacher pour prévenir le vol d'auto.
